The Seventies saw massive inflation world wide mainly caused by the Oil Crisis in the Middle East. The oil crisis was caused when Arab members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries , announced that they would no longer ship petroleum to nations that had supported Israel in its conflict with Syria and Egypt . In the 1970s also, the Vietnam War ended and the Cold War got colder. After nearly 10 years of war, allied forces pulled out of Vietnam. With the continuing Cold War between the East and West, the arms race continued with each side trying to find the ultimate weapon.
It also saw the beginning of the Home Computer, due to Intel creating the first cheap microprocessor. As people realized the power of these new home computers, a new use was found and that was the beginning of the video game .

The 1970s created a perfect musical bridge from the rebelliousness of the 1960s and the happy songs that are characteristic of the 1980s. The 1970's connected the hippie lifestyle of the 1960s with the characteristic yuppie lifestyle that was about to occur in the 1980s.Following the counterculture of the 60s, the 70s created a trend of relaxing music as well as dance music. If ever a musical style defined a decade, Disco was the definition of the 1970s.
